USA /MANAUS /THE AMAZON / BRAZIL /USA

 

 DAY 1 – AUG 2 – SATURDAY/ MIAMI (D–In Flight)

Our director Lulu Carter will be our trip leader. Lulu is from Brazil and took and organized many groups to the Amazon.

Depart Miami International Airport on Tam Brazilian Airlines Flight # 8077 at 7:15PM.  Enjoy  complimentary movie, dinner and non-alcholic beverages during the flight.

 

 DAY 2 – AUG 3 – SUNDAY / MANAUS / THE AMAZON (B, L & D )

amazonsummer15Manaus, capital of the state of Amazonas, is the largest state in Brazil. It is also the ideal point of departure for visiting the rest of the Amazon region. Tour boats leave Manaus to see the Meeting of the Waters, where the black waters of the Negro River meet the light waters of the Solimoes River, flowing side by side without mixing for several miles. Visitors can also explore riverbanks and "igarapes", swim and canoe in placid lakes or simply walk in the lush forest.

 

Arrive at the Manaus Airport at 12:20AM.  Clear Customs & Immigration. Welcome parents and children to this wonderful discovery adventure!   You will be met by your guide at the airport for transfer Tiwa Lodge Check in and rest (approximately a 35 minute boat ride to the lodge).  Late Breakfast at the lodge with briefing. 

Meet with the Jaguar team (Army) for an adventure of jungle survival in the Amazon forest with lunch in the jungle.  Learn about the eco-system in the Amazon.  We will be collecting dry leaves and fossils for our afternoon Art Project. 

Return to the lodge for dinner.  Let’s share our experiences of the day and become story tellers around a bonfire.

 DAY 3 – AUG 4 – MONDAY / THE AMAZON (B, L & D)

Before breakfast at the lodge, join us for a good stretch and movement mediation so we can really connect to “Mother Nature”.  Enjoy a amazonsummer3wonderful meal with organic tropical fruits, variety of cereals, natural juice and more!

Depart on a Jungle tour with a presentation of the Amazon’s tropical woods and trees.

After lunch at the lodge, we will depart on an expedition in a regional boat back to the past through the rubber history and culture.  We will visit the Rubber Museum Vila Paraíso and learn about the rubber industry influence to the world.  

Return to the lodge an engage in a wonderful Art Project where we will recycle the rubber that was collected during our visit.

Enjoy Dinner at the lodge, to be followed by story telling.  Then it’s time to pack for our four day Amazon River Boat Adventure.

 DAY 4 – AUG 5 – TUESDAY / THE AMAZON (B, L & D)

amazonsummer4Wake up early for the Sunrise Tour; returning to the lodge for Breakfast. After breakfast, depart on another walking jungle tour. Return to the lodge for check out.

At 11:30AM we will embark on a Regional Boat with overnight in awesome traditional Amazon hammocks.  Lunch will be served during river navigation.  There will be a presentation of the crew and a review the program for the following days.

 

               amazonsummer7                    Navigation upstream river until we reach the Terra Preta Community, a small village located approximately 79km upstream on the riverbank of the Negro River.  There are approximately 20 families who make their living by fishing,agriculture and the making and selling of handicrafts.  Experience interaction with the locals; a visit to the School.  This is going to be a great time of connection with our Brazilian fellows.
We will have time to play soccer, learn how they live in the jungle.

Anchor and embark on an excursion by canoe for piranha fishing deep in the flooded forest, then continue the evening excursion by canoe accompanying your guides as they spot and catch jacares (alligators) with their bare hands. This is going to be a great time for pictures!

                                   This afternoon namazonsummer6avigate upstream to Anavilhanas Island while you are sharing your excitement and adventures during the piranha fishing.  We will make a stop for an unforgettable Black River bath.

Enjoy a typical Amazon dinner on board the boat, with safe, fresh and organic food.

Overnight on the Cuieiras River.

 

 

 

 DAY 5 – AUG 6 – WEDNESDAY / THE AMAZON (B, L & D)

amazonsummer12Wake up early for sunrise meditation.  We will share a once in a lifetime experience to see a variety of birds in the

wild as you paddle canoes on the Cuieiras Lake.  Return to the boat for a fabulous breakfast.

The remainder of the morning is at your leisure to frolic in a small river waterfall; then join together for a rustic barbeque lunch on the shore of the Amazon River beach.

This afternoon we are going out exploring, with an opportunity to fish or observe the fauna and flora on Cuieras Lake.

This evening we will be camping on the riverbank (remember to bring you sleeping bag) while having dinner “picnic” style.  Learn how to make fire and how to survive a night in the jungle!

 DAY 6 – AUG 7 – THURSDAY / THE AMAZON (B, L & D)

amazonsummer1Arise early for “World Peace” meditation. We will break camp and return to the boat for our breakfast.  During Navigation to Novo Ayrão you will be learning how to make necklaces and artifacts from seeds….just like the Indians from the Amazon.

Lunch on board.

Afternoon at Novo Ayrão city to visit its shipyards, where you can see the regional boats and yachts being made,  a time to browse at the handcraft stores.

You will also have the option (Price not included, to be advised) to feed and dive with the Amazon dolphins, known as "Pink Botos".  Or, you can rent a bicycle and tour the city like a native (bike rental not included, price to be advised).

This evening we will enjoy our last typical native cuisine and night on the boat.  

 DAY 1 – AUG 2 – SATURDAY/ MIAMI (D–In Flight)

Rosa dos Anjos is the Brazilian artist that would be with us, teaching art from the Amazon!

As we navigate back to Manaus, we will do a farewell meditation and then enjoy breakfast on board.  We will pass the “Meeting of the Waters”, where the black waters of the Rio Negro meet the brown waters of the Solimoes to form the Amazon River proper.

We will then enter the Lake Januari region and visit the rubber-harvesting and manioc-producing caboclo community of Terra Nova, observing their life-style. Lunch on board.

We will arrive at the Tropical Hotel Pier around 02:00PM and be transferred to the hotel for our last day in Brazil.  After check in you are free to enjoy the hotel.  This hotel is a “must stay” property.  Children and parents can visit the zoo, relax and have fun in the wave pool, or parents can be pampered with a inexpensive manicure, pedicure and message (pay directly to the hotel).

Join the group for a farewell dinner at the pool restaurant (pay directly to the hotel).

 DAY 8 - AUG 9 – SATURDAY/ MANAUS (B, L – in flight)

                                    Buffett Breakfastamazonsummer11 at the hotel restaurant and check out.

You will be met by your local guide for your City Tour with a visit to the Opera House, Indian Museum and Market. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred to the Manaus Airport in time for Tam Brazilian Airlines Flight # 8076, departing at 12:50PM.
 
Arrive at Miami International Airport at 6:00PM. Clear Customs & Immigration.

Welcome Home!  A week later we will all be meeting at Outside the Box Studio for a reunion, where we can share pictures, stories, memories and more!

 

TIWA AMAZONAS ECORESORT 
 
tiwa_h6 Description: Located on the banks of the Rio Negro (40m by boat from the Tropical Hotel). Built around a beautiful natural lake that is surrounded by tropical rainforest. The resort offers 52 double houses built on poles, at the edge of the lake, a lovely wide sandy beach, swimming pool, restaurant, a water sport center, an amphitheater, tennis court, volleyball, mini golf. The complex is part of an eco park with a tropical jungle, and guest’s activities included. Electricity is provided through generators 24 hours a day.
