A decade ago, I stumbled into mosaics and found that it satisfies my need for a sculptural medium.  I have found a personal goal to transform mosaics from a traditional craft and elevate it to an art form.  I work with small tiles instead of stained glass because I love the beauty of irregular shapes that can fit together to make an image.  Once I have an idea marked out, placing the pieces of tile is meditative after a long day of teaching.  The audience who sees my mosaics, I hope, takes the time to see meaning and not just a “pretty picture”.
